Practical diagnosis before unnecessary replacement
Computer problems may be caused by the device, the software or the wider home or workplace setup. Vengera separates those possibilities before recommending a repair, especially where Wi-Fi, printers or shared files are part of the problem.
The first task is to establish the likely cause and the value of repairing it. Where a replacement is more sensible than further labour or parts, Vengera will explain why before additional cost is incurred.
Problems we investigate
- Computers that will not start, charge or load Windows correctly
- Slow performance, freezing, overheating and unexpected shutdowns
- Malware, unwanted software, browser redirects and suspicious pop-ups
- Storage, memory, battery and other replaceable component faults
- Windows installation, updates, drivers and software errors
- Data transfer to a replacement computer and backup setup
- Email, printer, Wi-Fi and peripheral problems linked to the device
Some faults require specialist board-level work or clean-room data recovery. If that appears necessary, we will explain the limitation and available referral options rather than presenting an uncertain repair as routine.
How the repair process works
- Initial details: you describe the fault, device history and any important data or deadline.
- Assessment: Vengera inspects the device and identifies the likely repair, risk and cost.
- Approval: parts or work outside the agreed labour allowance are not added without your consent.
- Repair and testing: the approved work is completed and the affected functions are checked.
- Handover: you receive an explanation of the work and any recommendations for backups, updates or replacement planning.
Pricing
Repair and diagnostic labour starts at £40 per hour. The first hour is charged in full; further time is billed in 30-minute blocks at the same hourly rate. Common software and performance jobs often fall within the guide ranges shown on the pricing page, but the exact cost depends on the fault.
Replacement parts, storage devices, software licences and specialist third-party recovery are charged separately. Nothing is purchased without approval.
Service area and arrangements
Service is available by arrangement for Ilkeston and surrounding Erewash locations, including:
- Ilkeston and Cotmanhay
- Kirk Hallam and Hallam Fields
- Awsworth and Cossall
- Stanton-by-Dale and Dale Abbey
- Long Eaton and Sandiacre
Drop-off or collection arrangements must be agreed in advance. On-site support is available where the problem relates to the wider workplace or home setup rather than the computer alone.
Protecting your data
Many repairs can be completed without intentionally accessing personal files, but testing may require the computer to start and operate normally. Tell Vengera about confidential information, encryption, failed storage or files that are not backed up before work begins. No repair can guarantee recovery from damaged storage, so valuable data should be treated as a separate risk.
Frequently asked questions
Can you investigate Wi-Fi as well as the computer?
Yes. If several devices lose connection, the router, coverage or internet service may be more relevant than a single computer. On-site assessment is usually required to measure a location-specific Wi-Fi problem.
Can you help someone who is not confident with technology?
Yes. Instructions and handover are given in plain language, and unnecessary settings are avoided. The owner of the device should still be present or provide clear authority for account and data-related work.
What happens when a hard drive or SSD has failed?
Vengera can assess whether the storage is detected and whether ordinary file transfer is safe to attempt. Mechanically damaged or severely failed media may require a specialist data-recovery laboratory, which is a separate service and cost.
Do you repair business computers?
Yes. For a business device, include any required software, encryption, shared access and downtime constraints. Where a replacement is needed, Vengera can help plan migration and setup.
Request a computer assessment
Send the device make and model, the symptoms and when the problem started. Vengera will confirm what to do next.
